He really leaned into the racist narrative of white female innocence-like most of the white media has the past two years-while emasculating the Black female opponents.
This narrative was the same racist garbage spoken about the Georgetown teams of the early-to-mid 1980s under the great John Thompson. It was racist then, and it is racist now, feelings be damned.
Perhaps dog whistles like the ones above is why there are growing legions of Hawkeye "haters" nationally.
