There's a reason they are called "Press Virginia" in the Big 12. And for a different perspective, plenty of calls against the whiny Hawkeyes were missed or disregarded as well. Plenty of rough play going on by both sides.

Thank you! And then he uses a tired racist trope by describing the largely Black lineup at WVU as felons for playing physically tough defense against the innocent little white girls of Iowa City, led by little Caitlin (of course). Meanwhile, he described the rough play (at times) of that same uniformly white Hawkeyes squad as clamping down defensively. He really leaned into the racist narrative of white female innocence-like most of the white media has the past two years-while emasculating the Black female opponents.

This narrative was the same racist garbage spoken about the Georgetown teams of the early-to-mid 1980s under the great John Thompson. It was racist then, and it is racist now, feelings be damned.

Perhaps dog whistles like the ones above is why there are growing legions of Hawkeye "haters" nationally.

Predictable and shameful reaction. The observations are about game style only. Your projecting a racial element where there is none is sad and wrong.

This is a year old, and I haven't thought about you since then because, well, you were (and are) irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. However, I noticed this reply in my activity area (I do not visit this page much) and I had a good laugh at the audacity of you accusing a Black man of "projecting a racial element"-which is rich, considering a.) you described Black women as "felons" and b.) white-dominant mainstream media was (and has been) projecting racist narratives such as yours on Black women and their supporters in the NCAA and WNBA since Clark entered the basketball universe like a bad case of herpes. Chalk up this hot mess of "journalism" as another example.

The only "predictable and shameful" response came from you and your compatriots, since you are unwilling and unable to consider your own subconscious racial biases in your reporting. Since then, Clark and that white supremacist vector of a franchise she plays, flops, and whines for, has become a hotbed for some of the worst acts of white supremacy against Black women in the history of professional sports, all the while creating a dangerous environment for opponents and their fans. Meanwhile, KKKlark, the Fever Klavern, as well as the commissioner of the WNBA, denies reality on the ground while enabling Princess KKKaitlin and her supporters (like you). Then again, Indiana had the most KKK members at its peak during the mid-1920s and remains fervently right-wing/white supremacist state to this day. Can anyone with basic sense really be shocked? But I digress.

It must be nice to be able to patronizingly and condescendingly brush aside the perspectives of those who have lived quite a different reality from your White Bread existence in the Upper Midwest while projecting your own racism. Do better.

People might take you seriously if you could read better - the name is TORY.

Not Tony.

Regardless, my previous comment stands. You are a victim in search of a crime that didn't occur.
